The Essential Elements of a School’s Infrastructure

A school is where a child spends the maximum part of his/her formative years and this is precisely why a school is often referred to as the second home. It is in a school that children learn the basic nuances of life as well as gather the skills to cope with the everyday challenges that life throws at us.

Most parents, when looking for a school for their kids usually give priority to the academic results of the institution, as well as their location and ranking but quite often tend to ignore the infrastructural facilities that the school has. However, research shows that the infrastructure of a school has a major role to play in ensuring the all-round development of the students studying under their portals.

Therefore, when choosing a school parents should make sure that the following things are present in the school’s infrastructure:

  • Well-equipped laboratories allow students to perform lab activities more efficiently. Facilities such as libraries, workshops, halls, assembly area and proper sanitation facilities are some of the infrastructural basics that each school should provide to its students.

  • As classrooms are considered to be the most important part of the school infrastructure; they should be airy, well- ventilated, and should have windows to let the natural light to come in. Moreover, the classrooms should have ergonomically designed seats and benches so that everyone in the class can feel at ease while sitting. In addition, cupboards should be there in every class to keep the class materials.

  • Every school should have proper safety CCTV cameras installed to ensure the safety of the staff and students just like some of the top schools of the country like DPS have state-of-the-art surveillance systems and cameras installed in all important areas of the school and classrooms.

It is interesting to note that along with having the key infrastructural facilities required for a school, some of the country’s top schools today like DPS also have solar power plants and rain water harvesting systems in place, so as to promote a sustainable environment within the school premises as well as teach their students the importance of preservation of natural resources.

Therefore, it can well be said that a school with sound infrastructure helps in the all-round development of the children.
